Questions and Answers about Pathways
AS VP Education and Pathways Guide, I have been asked many questions about Pathways. I will record the questions here, and the answers, as I receive them.
q - Our latest Distinguished Club Program dashboard shows no Level 1 Pathways awards. I completed my Level 1 in December 2017 and have started Level 2. When will this show up?
a - There are two parts to submitting a level or path completion in Pathways. The first part is submitting the approval on Base Camp. As you confirmed in your email, your level completion has been recorded successfully within Base Camp.
The second part is the submission of the level completion to World Headquarters via Club Central. Please be advised that it is this step that must be completed for the club to receive credit towards the Distinguished Club Program. Once the award is submitted through Club Central, the DCP will reflect this change as well.
In this case, your award simply needs to be submitted through the Submit Education Awards link on Club Central.
International Speech and Table Topics contests are coming up. You need to have completed project 6 in CC manual. What is the equivalent in Pathways? Clubs will need to know soon.
From the master Q & A log:
International Speech Contest
Overview: • The 2016 - 2017 Speech Contest Rule Book has been updated with information related to completing speech contests in Pathways
enabled regions and districts. You can access the rule book at Toastmasters.org/leadership - central/speech - contests
#317:
Credit in Pathways for speech contest speeches
Q - This question is about getting Speech/Project Credit from Contest.
A - Yes, members may present Pathways speeches as contest or test speeches. Speech credit may be given as long as the speech meets all Pathways assignment criteria and the member receives an evaluation.
#8:
Speech contest judging criteria in Pathways
Q - Are members in districts that have not yet rolled into Pathways still required to give six speeches to qualify for the International Speech Contest? What are the International Speech Contest requirements for members enrolled in Pathways?
A - To be eligible to compete in the International Speech Contest, a member must have completed six speech projects in the Competent Communication manual or a minimum of two levels within a path in the Pathways learning experience.
Q - Good Afternoon,
I am wondering about having letters sent to my employer upon completion of pathways Levels.
A -
I went back to that Pathways Guide Q&A.
#695: Recognition in Pathways, level completion certificates, employer letters
Q - Could you share some examples of Pathways level and path completion certificates and an example of the letter that is sent the employer?
A - To see an example of a completion certificate awarded on Base Camp, please view the Accessing Certificates tutorial or tutorial quick reference guide. If you would like to see an example of the employer letters, please email educationawards@toastmasters.org
Employer notification letters can be requested for Level 3, Level 4, and Level 5 achievements. They can be sent via email or mail. When the club officer is submitting the level completion online via Club Central, or submitting the application to World Headquarters for processing, the employer notification letters can be requested at that time.
Q - Where can I get a detailed breakdown of all the projects on all the Pathways?
A - https://d4tm.org/index.php/educational-program/pathways/paths-and-projects.html#lessons-learned
Q – Are all Level 1s the same in all Pathways?
A – Yes, they are all the same. They will not relate to the Pathway you have chosen.. For instance, if you are on the Innovative Planning Pathway, your speeches in Level 1 will be on any subject of your choice. Levels 2 through 5 contain projects that are required for that Pathway.
Q – I have chosen my Pathway. How do I find the Project information for my Ice Breaker?
A – After logging in, clicking on the Menu, Education, Pathways learning experience, and Begin your journey, scroll down to “Log in as a member”. Click on the box “My Education Transcript”. Scroll down to “Open Curriculum”. Click on “Launch”
You will then see “Project Checklist”. Tap on that to see the instructions for the Ice Breaker. You will also be able to see “Your Evaluation” page, which has a list of the Resources. They include Evaluation Resource, Print My Project and Speech Outline Worksheet
Q – Is there a place in Pathways to record roles that I perform at meetings, such as Chair?
A – Yes. After you click on “Log in as a member”, click on the gear icon on the upper right of the page. Then click on “My Account”. You will then see the meeting roles listed. Click on the calendar of the meeting role to select the date. Click on the date. It is important to record your meeting roles, as the completion of some of the roles are required in other levels.
Question: Can I start on Pathways and still work on projects in the current system?
Answer: Yes, you can continue to work in the current program and work in Pathways at the same time. You have until June 30, 2020 to work in the current system. For example, you may want to get your Advanced Communication Silver or even your DTM in the current system while working on levels in Pathways.

Answer:

2. Log in
3. Enter your Password
4. Tap on Menu (in the upper left hand corner) where there are three bars
5. Tap on “Education”

Question: I chose a path but I'm not sure where to go on the website to find the criteria of the speeches
Answer: Take steps 1 through 7 above. Then scroll down to “Log in as a member”.
Scroll down to “Education Transcript”. Your Pathway should then be listed. Tap on it Then tap on “Open Curriculum”. You will then see the list of requirements in your Pathway. Tap on “Launch”.

Question: Do I have to do the Pathways projects in order?
Answer: Projects in Pathways are meant to be done in sequential order. You cannot do Level 2, for example, until you have completed Level 1. Each Project in each level is also done in order, because each project is based on the previous project.

Weekly Meeting - September 15, 2016 - Doughnuts!
This week's meeting was an tribute to Doughnuts. The atomsphere was as usual warm and inviting. Margery made sure that we had Timbits to enjoy this evening. Patricia presented her third speech that described the value of a Toastmaster membership and that an evening at Context TM is cheaper than $4 a night. Fees will be $195 this year and are due by September 30, 2016. The word of the evening was "appeal". Tony won the award of the most uses at 11 and Sue came in second at 9 uses. The theme for next week is "Fall". The season, action, or event - let's see where this theme takes us!
Here are a couple of pictures from this meeting. More can be seen on our Facebook page
